Navaratri Indian Festival
Sep. 30, 2008 by ngarrett
Navaratri, one of India’s major festival celebrations, is a time to see family and friends, enjoy music and dance, and seek blessings for new endeavors. This year’s Navaratri festival will feature traditional Indian music and dance while at the same time giving audiences a glimpse at the contemporary arts scene. The student group, Shakti, is hosting a series of pre-festival activities which extends Navaratri into nine (nava) nights of performances and events including concerts by some of India’s leading artists, a film screening, a dance workshop, a celebratory feast and an honoring of Navaratri’s religious traditions at a culminating worship service.
The Center for the Arts and the Music Department invite you to become acquainted with one of the most exciting cultural traditions at Wesleyan by offering you a complimentary ticket to the event of your choice (Bhojanam feast not included). To obtain your free ticket, visit the University Box Office on the first floor of Usdan Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. or present your student ID at the door. For more information, contact the Box Office at 860-685-3355.
